Best thing About this Album: The musical energy and impressive consistency throughout the album.
One thing I wish was different: While super uplifting and empowering, the album borders on saccharine and juvenile with it’s almost caricature-ized and somewhat cliche self-assured insistence. I could’ve done with a little more grit and depth, personally. This album might be for a slightly younger audience.

Tracks: 12
Favorites: Never Going Back, Higher, Strange
Parental Guidance: Who I Am has a swear word repeated twice in each prechor. Miracle has a swear word in the first verse and each subsequent prechor.

We got a bit of an introduction to this album with The Score’s previously released EP, Myths & Legends, but this week brought us access to the full Atlas. It is twelve tracks of inspirational self-empowerment, packaged and delivered with an alternative/pop/rock edge. While I wasn’t personally amazed by and invested in every single track, there are some amazing songs here, and I feel like this album is more thematically and technically consistent than 90% of albums that hit the market.

This is a perfect album to dance with, work out to, or get yourself psyched up to overcome some epic obstacle. When these tunes are playing, you will truly feel like you can carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. You got this!

Here are some of my favorite lines from each track to give you a better lyrical sample of the whole album. Take a look and then take a listen!

“I’m tired of trying to fit in when I’m one in a million.” — Never Going Back

“A dreamer with a fever to be great was all I ever wanted.” — Legend

“Change won’t make me breakdown. I can finally see now.” — Only One

“I am walking the tightrope. I’m walking it for you. I am living on high hopes. Now they’re crashing through.” — Tightrope

“When your whole world is jaded, when your colors are faded, and nothing but your shadow’s on your side, I believe in you.” — Believe

“Keeping us down is impossible, ’cause we’re unstoppable.” — Unstoppable

“I’m a poet and a soldier. I am young and growing older.” — Who I Am

“I’ve been waiting all my life to live when I’ve only been dreaming.” — Revolution

“I faced my fears in the mirror.” — Shakedown

“Where you end is not where you start.” — Higher

“I struggle to find the rhythm and rhyme; don’t know how to say it. Don’t know how to say that I’m losing my mind.” — Miracle

“Lately I’ve been thinking everyone around me is insane.” — Strange

That’s it. If you loved these songs as much as I did, please consider supporting The Score by purchasing the album from their website or on your favorite digital music store (iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon, etc.)

And holler at me in the comments! I’d love to talk to you all about this album.
