As most of you know by now, I’m a bit of a stick-in-the-mud, and most assuredly overly analytical in just about every sector, but never more so than with music. Therefore, it takes a great deal of potential to sell me on a preorder. What I’m telling you is that I am not the type of person that will preorder an album a year ahead of time with only one single to go off, from a band that hasn’t produced anything in over a decade. And yet, Colliding By Design is a thing that happened to me.
Let me tell ya: no regrets.
To be perfectly honest, the first single was so good that I really didn’t care if I hated every single other track on the album. It was already worth it to me. Luckily for me, I do not hate every other track. In fact, there are a few tracks that I’d rank up there with “Diagram of a Simple Man” — which is a staggeringly high bar to set!
Here are some of my favorite lines from each track to give you a better sample of the whole album. Take a gander at this little preview, and once you’ve decided you love it, set aside some time to listen to the whole album. You won’t be sorry!

“Be my heart. Be my soul. Be my own.” — We Can Escape

“Maybe I should give in. Or should I just keep living?” — Goodbye
“If I ever really want to feel alive, I take a look into your endless eyes and find I’m still here.” — 73
