Best thing About this Album: The consistency in the writing.
One thing I wish was different: The music is quite meditative in a way, which is wonderful, but it can make it quite difficult to be consciously present in the lyrics, which are lovely in their own right. I suppose what I’m saying is that the music soothes you instead of waking you up. Not inherently a bad thing, but also not my preference. I like to keep my brain more active, and that fights against the natural flow of this album.

Flor’s debut album is here, and it is making a big statement. This does not sound like a debut LP. This sounds like an experienced, refined collection that is certain of its identity and has a definite point-of-view established. From the first track to the last, the consistency never waivers, delivering depth and purpose with each song in the form of indie, synth-pop introspection.

Here are some of my favorite lines from each track to give you a better lyrical sample of the whole album. Check it out!

“I’ll keep close to home what’s pulled from me.” — guarded

“I lost it when you found me.” — warm blood

“We entertain these people that we create, that we dream of ’til there remains no trace of what they stand for, what they could be.” — heart

“So, where do you go whenever you disappear?” — where do you go

“I’ll come back here when time allows.” — back again

“It’s you, the reason that I come alive.” — hold on

“Oh, don’t you tire your restless soul. You’re running. You’re running low.” — restless soul

“Are these feelings I long for best left unsaid?” — unsaid

“I get the feeling that I won’t get everything that I want, and I know that now.” — spoiled

“You can’t live over your shoulder. Overbehind.” — overbehind

That’s it. If you loved these songs as much as I did, please consider supporting flor by purchasing the album from their website or on your favorite digital music store (iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon, etc.)
